A Richmond man has been arrested in connection with the March 30 killing of a man in El Cerrito.

Michael Ray Hill was detained at the Richmond BART Station on Saturday and charged with murdering Larry Lawson, Sr.

At 11:18 p.m. on March 30, police and fire officials responded to a report of a man down on the sidewalk near 11319 San Pablo Ave. They found Lawson, a transient, with wounds to his body, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

During their investigation, police detectives distributed a photo taken from video surveillance to police agencies Bay Area-wide. A BART police officer identified the suspect as Hill, and the same officer found him at the Richmond station on Saturday and detained him, police said.

Hill was booked for murder at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility, police said.
