El Cerrito lap pool project nears completion

The El Cerrito Swim Center is moving into the final stages of the Emery G. Weed III Lap Pool project. City officials confirmed today that the pool was plastered and will be filled with water over the next few days.

Reopening of the pool is scheduled for May 2.

The replastering project started Jan. 15, prompting most swim center programs to relocate to the Activity Pool. During this period, the city canceled Swim Lessons, Water Aerobics, and Aqua Zumba.

While the work was underway, the city allowed pass holders to pause 30-day or annual passes for free if they did not want to use the Activity Pool.

All current schedule updates and facility information are posted on the city website at elcerrito.gov/swimcenter.
