El Cerrito police are investigating a homicide on San Pablo Avenue near Potrero Avenue after finding a man lying on the sidewalk Saturday night.
At 11:18 p.m., police and fire officials responded to a report of a man down on the sidewalk near 11319 San Pablo Ave. They found an unconscious transient man on the sidewalk with wounds to his body, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His identity was not being released until after his family is notified.
