The City of Richmond is inviting the community to the 17th Sisters in Solidarity International Women’s Day celebration on Saturday, March 16.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lavonya Dejean Middle School. Per usual, the event will feature an afternoon of networking, resource sharing, fun engaging activities, and a panel discussion with the theme, “Count Her In: Invest in Women and Accelerate Progress.”

This year, the city will pay tribute to the late, former Mayor Irma L. Anderson. An inaugural Legacy Award for Service will be awarded in her name.

“Throughout her life, she touched so many people through her service and she encouraged others to serve,” city officials said. “She has mentored and guided countless people, specifically, women who strived to have careers in the public sector.”

The public is encouraged to join the celebration, held in honor of Internaional Women’s Day (March 8 this year) and Women’s History Month.

Lunch will be provided. Registration is not required but is preferred via Eventbrite.
