An essential building block of education will be celebrated when the City of Richmond joins with community partners to host “Richmond’s 2024 Annual Literacy Festival” Sat., April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium.

The event theme is “Richmond is where knowledge has freedom to thrive” and it’s free to attend.

Community members attending the event can anticipate book giveaways, library updates, author talks, free food, entertainment and lots of fun for everyone, according to the City.

A “Local Author/Illustrator Panel” moderated by Tamara Shiloh will take place at the event, including Robert Liu-Trujillo, Marissa McGee, Michael Leali and A.J. Sass.

Book readers are needed and community vendor tables—with two chairs—are available. Contact the City of Richmond’s LEAP program for more information at 510-307-8084.

Find the Richmond Memorial Auditorium at 403 Civic Center Plaza in Richmond.
