City announces spring opening for Marina Bay Park farmers market

City announces spring opening for Marina Bay farmers' market
Marina Bay Park

A highly anticipated new farmers market in Marina Bay will open this spring, according to the City of Richmond. A specific opening date wasn’t announced.

The city posted a new flyer advertising that, once running, the Marina Bay Farmers Market will occur from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays at Marina Bay Park. It will feature local farmers, multicultural vendors, food and beverages.

This new farmers market will not replace the existing market that operates at Richmond Civic Center. That market continues to operate Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot at 24th Street and Barrett Avenue.

The Standard recently reported on possible plans to relocate that market a short distance to the front of the historic Main Library, which is set for a significant renovation.

Both markets are operated by the Richmond Certified Farmers Market Association. Read our recent profile on the market association’s president Tom Cloman.
