The Factory Bar in Richmond is ringing in its “Second Annual Teacher’s Attendance Contest” this week, much to the anticipated delight of local educators.

“The enthusiasm and energy around last year’s contest was amazing,” Proprietor Tom Lyons told the Richmond Standard. “We are excited to once again celebrate our teachers and educators.”

The bar will keep a time card for each Richmond area school and when a teacher/educator visits, they can get their school card punched to “mark their attendance,” said Lyons. Each school can earn one punch on its card per day.

The Factory Bar will tally the cards at the end of the school year and the one with the best “attendance” will win a pizza party with beer and cocktails hosted by the bar.

Last year’s contest came down to the wire, according to The Factory on Facebook, with Highland Elementary School ultimately earning the title.

Here’s a toast to Richmond’s hard working, local educators getting straight As when it comes to a good time at The Factory.
