The North & East Neighborhood Council held its first annual picnic since pre-pandemic 2019 at Burg Park on Saturday, Sept. 9, and it did not disappoint.
Several hundred people, including many families, showed up to the picnic at the park located at Clinton Avenue and 30th Street.
Red Oak Realty provided a large buffet style table for the community to select from. The event also featured a large Kidz Korner for children and pre-teens, face painting, jumpers, and many games the children could play. A bike safety and riding course taught elementary school kids how to ride their bikes safely and still have fun riding them.
The event also featured several live bands that had audiences singing along to their tunes, along with numerous nonprofit organizations and community groups.
“It’s such a joy to come here each year and see all of the families with their children having such a good time,” said neighborhood resident Vicki Smith.
Sponsors for the North & East Neighborhood Picnic included Chevron, MCE, City of Richmond, Richmond Fire Department, Richmond Police Department, Richmond Police Activities League and the North and East Neighborhood Council.
