Get ready for a sea of smiles as Richmond’s 23rd Street transforms into a massive, vibrant block party for the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival on Sunday, May 3.
The festival is known for its incredible energy, multiple live music stages, and massive turnout. The 23rd Street Merchants Association is again hosting it this year from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. along the corridor stretching from Rheem Avenue to Clinton Avenue
Produced in partnership with the City of Richmond, the festival offers music across several stages featuring local talent and regional radio stations. Visitors can stroll through blocks of food vendors offering traditional cuisine and explore the many local businesses that call 23rd Street home.
There are plenty of activities for children and families to enjoy throughout the afternoon. In past years, the festival has hosted everything from pony rides and inflatable bounce houses to mechanical bulls. Dozens of community organizations and local artisans also set up booths to share resources and handmade goods with the thousands of residents expected to attend.
Local partners like Chevron Richmond, Mechanics Bank, and AC Transit help make this large-scale celebration possible each year. The festival is designed to be a safe, alcohol-free environment for all ages.
More details regarding the event schedule and vendor information can be found on the 23rd Street Merchants Association website.
