Metro by T-Mobile at 12800 San Pablo Ave. in Richmond (at the corner of Esmond Avenue) will hold its 7th Annual Backpack and School Supplies Giveaway during store hours from Friday, Aug. 25 through Sunday, Aug. 27 (or until supplies run out).

No purchase at the store is required. Families can simply come fetch free school supplies for students. The store opens daily from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., expect Sunday it closes at 7:30 p.m.

The store has 100 backpacks with supplies to hand out, and will provide as many as two backpacks per family.

“But if a family really needs it, we can assist,” Metro by T-Mobile Owner Ian Taha said.

Taha said he remembers growing up struggling to know if he would have supplies and clothing for school.

”Since the pandemic, many parents have lost their jobs and income,”  Taha said. “Many parents dread the school year because they may not have the money or resources to get their kids backpacks and school supplies. That’s why it’s important that our Metro By T-Mobile store help assist parents with getting needed supplies for school.”
