The Richmond Art Center (RAC) is on the lookout for Richmond artists interested in applying to take part in “Right Here, Right Now, Richmond,” an exhibition set for July 3 through Aug. 31, 2024 in the RAC’s Main Gallery. The deadline for artists to apply is Tues., Sept. 5, 2023.
Right Here, Right Now, Richmond, the third incarnation of an exhibition that first showed in the winter of 2020 around the advent of the pandemic, “looks at the excellent and risk-taking new work being made in our city,” according to the RAC.
The RAC seeks artists living or working in Richmond to submit work for Right Here, Right Now, Richmond. The seven artists selected for the exhibition by a jury panel will receive a stipend of $2,000 each “to create new work and/or present existing current work,” according to the RAC. The jury panel will make its artist selections via digital review and the jurors are: Liliana Herrera, Chris Kerr, AJ Serrano, and Svea Lin Soll.
Key dates that the RAC asks artists to be mindful of are: Submission deadline: Tues., Sept. 5, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.; Artist notification by: Fri., Sept. 22, 2023; Studio visits: Will be scheduled in October 2023; Exhibition dates: July 3, 2024 through Aug. 31, 2023; and Reception: TBD.
The RAC said that this new tradition posed by the exhibition is “an opportunity to continue our commitment to support the visionary work of contemporary artists working and living in Richmond.”
