“We are like a family.”

The Richmond Little League’s 9-11 age group softball teams aren’t just all stars. They’re now also champions.

The team won two of three games last week to clinch the District 4 championship, which covers the East Bay, according to Eva Padilla Romero, who serves as softball player agent for the Richmond Little League. Romero is also a coach for the championship team along with Kaisha Hill and Angel Hernandez.

The passion shown by both players and coaches are what make this team special, Romero said.

“The players tried their hardest and kept a positive attitude even when they made a mistake or things were not going well,” she said. “The coaches are very invested and in tune with the players and continued to root them on and guide them in moments of frustration. We are like a family.”
