Richmond Councilmember Doria Robinson and Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia are teaming up with local organizations to host “Thrive Thursday/Health 4 All” this summer, a free, weekly event providing health and wellness resources and activities in Richmond.
Starting June 22, Thrive Thursdays will take place every Thursday at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park at Harbour Way and Virginia Avenue from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to Supervisor Gioia’s newsletter.
Community members who attend will benefit from organized physical activities like walking, jogging, Zumba and other exercises; “Walk with a Doc” where a local doctor will answer questions and give health advice; bike repairs; health and social services resources; fresh fruits and vegetables and other resources.
Organizations partnering with Robinson and Gioia on Thrive Thursdays include Contra Costa Health Services, YES Nature to Neighborhoods, Rich City Rides, Urban Tilth, Moving Forward, LifeLong Medical, Kaiser, and Richmond Sol.
“You’re going to have fun, you’re going to be healthy, and we’re going to bring our community together,” Gioia said. “That’s what this is about.”
