The RPAL crew is getting ready to roll out its “Juneteenth Carnival” the weekend of June 16-18 over a variety of times. The annual event will be held the same weekend as Juneteenth, and also Father’s Day, at 25th Street and Barrett Avenue in Richmond.
As in the past, the family friendly carnival will offer plenty of rides, games, food and community togetherness. Event times will be: Fri., June 16: 5-11 p.m.; and Sat., June 17 and Sun., June 18: 2-11 p.m.
Unlimited Ride Wristbands, regularly $40 at the event, are available for $30 by purchasing them in advance. Look for an RPAL booth at 24th St. & Barrett in Richmond to purchase wristbands ahead of time or stop by RPAL at 2200 Macdonald Ave. in Richmond, according to RPAL’s Sharon Scott. Executive Director of RPAL Larry Lewis said at Tuesday’s City Council meeting that the presale ticket special will be available at RPAL headquarters starting Mon., June 12.
Last year, more than 1,000 local families came out to the carnival daily, per Lewis at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Donations of wristbands for youths in need are also encouraged by RPAL.
Again, the carnival will take place at Barrett Ave. and 25th St. in Richmond. For more info, call RPAL at 510-621-1221. Learn more about RPAL here.
