What better way to celebrate Oktoberfest 2020 amid a global pandemic than by enjoying a world class beer that’s made locally? Richmond’s own East Brother Beer Company is delivering on that tall order by re-releasing its celebrated Festbier in time for every beer lover’s favorite month.
“Oktoberfest 2020 will look a bit different from previous years, but our team is determined to find reasons to celebrate, with the release of a seasonal favorite,” said Rob Lightner of East Brother in a statement.
Lightner describes East Brother’s Festbier as a “smooth, clean, pale German lager with a moderately strong malty flavor and light hop character” that “showcases German malt flavors without becoming too heavy or filling.”
So what makes it world class? In 2019, The Beer Connoisseur rated East Brother’s Festbier with a score of 96 out of 100, giving it the distinction of being “world class.” That same year, it was chosen as number six out of the top 200 beers of the year.
“[Beer Connoisseur] judges agreed that besides being delicious and darn near flawless, this beer was the perfect pairing for bratwurst, and at only 5.8 percent ABV, you can celebrate with more than just one,” stated Lightner.
