The victim of a fatal shooting in the 100 block of 5th Street early Sunday has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as 19-year-old Flavio Iniguez-Garcia of Hayward.

That evening, Iniguez-Garcia was believed to have been attending a large party on the same block as where he was shot at about 1:16 a.m. on 5th Street near Chanslor Avenue. Police responded to the area on reports of a shooting and found the victim, who died at the scene.

On Wednesday afternoon, several candles appearing to be a makeshift memorial remained on a sidewalk on the block, and pieces of yellow police tape were still attached to nearby fences.

The fatal shooting was the latest in a spate of gun violence in the city, much of it involving young people.

No suspects have been named in the fatal shooting on 5th Street, and witnesses or anyone with information is encouraged to contact Richmond Police Homicide Detective Villalobos at 510-620-6541 or email [email protected].

In a separate development Wednesday, RPD announced an arrest made in an Oct. 8 shooting that killed 17-year-old San Pablo resident Ayanius Saucer on Loyola Drive in Richmond. Homicide detectives and Special Investigations Section (SIS) did an intensive investigation and within the first 48 hours, arrested Amir Williams on murder charges, according to police.
