Victim of fatal shooting in San Pablo identified as Oakland man

The victim of a fatal shooting in San Pablo on Wednesday has been identified by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office as Murray Maurice Edwards, 58, of Oakland.

Police responded to the 2600 block of 19th Street at about 5:35 a.m. on a report of a shooting and found Edwards suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite attempts at life-saving measures, Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police believe the victim was targeted. No information has been released about a suspect or an arrest.
