Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (right) and Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia (left) are partnering on a workshop educating the community about scams targeting seniors at San Pablo Library this Friday, April 24.

With an ongoing rise in scammers targeting seniors, local leaders aim to educate the community on various scams in order to prevent incidents.

On Friday, April 26, from 9-11 a.m., community members are invited to the San Pablo Library’s Community Room, 13751 San Pablo Ave., for a free Senior Scam StopperSM seminar. Seniors, their caretakers and family members are encouraged to attend.

Assemblymember Buffy Wicks and Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia are attending the event in partnership with the Contractors State License Board. The City of San Pablo, West County Senior Coalition and the Center for Elders’ Independence are also event partners.

Also on hand at the workshop will be representatives of the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, U.S. Postal Service, the State Department of Insurance and many others.
