The West Contra Costa Salesian Boys & Girls Club “Basketball Rec League” is accepting players ages 7 through 14 of all skill levels for its five-week league beginning July 18 through Aug. 15. The league’s location is at the Boys & Girls Club, 2801 Moran Ave., Richmond.

According to league organizers, “It’s a league for the youth of the city of Richmond; we are keeping it as affordable as possible and also offer free scholarships for those who qualify.”

Players will be evaluated and placed on a team in their age-appropriate division, per league organizers. “From beginner level to the more experienced players, we have a spot for everyone in our youth basketball league! We will be developing basketball skills, but more importantly, we will be focused on making sure that the kids have FUN!”

Evaluations will take place July 7-8, 2021 from 6-7 p.m. Players only need to be evaluated on one of the days evaluations are taking place.

The cost to participate in the Basketball Rec League is $75 for current Boys & Girls Club members and $150 for non-members. Scholarships may be available to those who qualify, said league organizers. The fee includes a reversible jersey, six game minimum and fundamental coaching; non-members also receive membership to the Boys & Girls Club for full access to year-round activities.
