Opening Day rainout not dampening ball players’ spirits

Dozens of youth ball players, their families and fans showed up ready to participate in an opening day parade in Richmond on Saturday, marking the start of the baseball and softball seasons, but Mother Nature didn’t play ball.

The Richmond Little League & Girls Softball opening day parade and games were cancelled due a significant downpour on Saturday morning. Many people showed up despite the rain, hoping the skies would clear just in time. That didn’t happen, but there is good news.

The action is set to resume this coming weekend at Nicholl Park with a ton of games to play ad watch. The Standard encourages fans to attend and support the young athletes. See below for the schedules for both Little League and Girls Softball:
