Health officials from all 13 Bay Area jurisdictions are collectively stating that “now is the right time to get updated COVID and Flu vaccines.”
The fall 2025 updated flu and COVID-19 vaccines are available at pharmacies and doctors’ offices across the region. California’s state health guidance supports vaccination for everyone 6 months and older.Â
Vaccinations reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and strain on health systems, according to Bay Area health officers. They emphasize that the COVID shot is particularly important for older adults, infants and toddlers, pregnant people and those with elevated risk factors.
Because of Assembly Bill 144, California-regulated insurance plans continue to cover these vaccines at no or low cost, even amid changing federal policy.
Bay Area residents can get vaccinated through regular providers or participating pharmacies. Contra Costa County is also offering public health immunization clinics and walk-in flu vaccine sessions for underserved communities. Local health departments can help families find providers for their youngest children if needed.
Resources in Contra Costa County include:
- Public Health immunization clinics around the county for underserved populations.
- Walk-in flu vaccination clinics for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center & Health Centers patients this month.
- If you are having difficulty finding a provider offering COVID shots for your child aged 6 months to 2 years, please call your local health department, consult your pediatrician, or go to the State’s MyTurn website.Â
