Tibetan monk, artist Lama Tashi Norbu visits Richmond wellness center

Dr. Jennie Hsu, founder of Wellness Visions, the health and wellness center based in Richmond, welcomed acclaimed Tibetan monk and artist, Lama Tashi Norbu, as part of his official U.S. tour who is on a mission to spread his spiritual message of peace and unity and raise awareness and support for Tibetan art and culture. The two-day events included Tibetan healing events with a sacred opening ceremony, live art painting, chanting, and music – all under the transformational 48-unit Energy Enhancement System (EESystem) wellness space.

Close to 100 people attended the events, held on July 11 and 12, starting with a film screening of the biopic “Lama Tashi Norbu-A Story Teller in Art” followed by a Q&A with The Venerable Lama Tashi in person, accompanied by Monk Geshe Jampa. Lama Tashi shared his life story as an exiled Tibetan with a family lineage of spiritual wisdom and his gift for art, weaving it together for a greater purpose.

“We are very honored and blessed to have welcomed Lama Tashi to Wellness Visions. Our members were incredibly moved by the film screening that follows his life, his modern contemporary art, and spiritual message across the globe,” says Dr. Hsu. “Both Lama Tashi and I have a shared love of sciences, especially quantum physics and spirituality. Lama Tashi was fascinated with how our 48-unit Energy Enhancement System (EESystem) elevates energy and consciousness with scalar waves [invented and developed by Dr. Sandra Rose Michael over four decades].”

Art & Spirituality Meets Science & Spirituality

“The work at Wellness Visions and EESystem embodies the combination of science, technology, and spirituality so seamlessly. I was so impressed that their philosophy on health aligns with my life’s work. I have always mindfully created artwork dedicated to western concepts of physics, biology, and chemistry, at the same time marrying those concepts with Tibetan Buddhist teachings. With Wellness Visions and EESystem, I am honored to collaborate with individuals dedicated to mindfulness practice,” says Lama Tashi Norbu.

Lama Tashi has traveled the world and has had the honor and pleasure of performing at Carnegie Hall with Earth, Wind, and Fire, and at the Milken Institute with Scott Page of Pink Floyd. He is preparing to perform with Taylor Dane in the coming year and looks forward to exploring opportunities to perform with like-minded, spiritual performing artists. His latest project, and “the most difficult, to date, by far,” has been his ongoing search for a North American home for The Museum of Tibetan Art & Culture, established in 2024. “We have been traveling throughout the country, searching both for a physical location with which to call home, as well as actively fundraising to realize our mission. We have come across many generous friends and patrons, and our momentum has been forward-moving.  But we still have a long way to go. We are very excited for the journey,” says Lama Tashi Norbu.

The public is invited to explore Lama Tashi’s artwork currently on display at Wellness Visions through July 20, when he returns for another Tibetan healing concert and sacred closing ceremony, before heading to San Francisco. This will be a rare opportunity to engage directly with the artist and visionary himself. Lama Tashi will be offering sacred Tibetan tattoos and personalized Thangka scroll paintings for sale. His artwork on display includes over 21 exclusive items consisting of paint, Sanskrit writing, and calligraphy, with some available for purchase. All donations from sales support the mission of the Museum of Contemporary Tibetan Art in Emmen, Netherlands, the first museum of its kind dedicated as a permanent exhibition and home for contemporary Tibetan art. Additionally, any purchase or donation will qualify the donor to be entered in a raffle for an original Lama Tashi artwork.

Two years in since opening, Wellness Visions Center remains committed and inspired by the many healing stories of its members, and to delivering the highest quality of health and wellness services, events, and products that support health and well-being.
