Richmond firefighters battled a fire that began in a homeless encampment early this morning and spread to about one acre of grass and brush in the area.
The fire was reported just after 3 a.m. in the area of Richmond Parkway and Lakeside Drive.
Crews from the Richmond and Con Fire departments responded and managed to extinguish the fire without issue, according to Richmond Firefighters Local 188, the union representing city firefighters.
No injuries were reported.
