A robbery suspect was arrested and a firearm was recovered on Sunday, but not before a police pursuit from Richmond to Martinez.

Richmond police officers were patrolling Sunday afternoon when they saw a vehicle being driven by a known felon with outstanding warrants. Police also believed the driver to be armed.

The suspect fled an attempted traffic stop, leading officers on a pursuit that ended in the area of Highway 4 and Pine Street in Martinez, where the suspect collided with another vehicle, disabling it. Luckily, the occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The occupants of the suspect vehicle attempted to flee on foot, but all were taken into custody after officers searched the area.

During the pursuit, officers saw a firearm being discarded from the suspect vehicle on Highway 4. With help from a police K-9, the RPD located the firearm to collect as evidence, according to police.

The driver was arrest for attempting to evade officers, possession of a firearm and for his outstanding warrants.
