More than 40 community members and city staff participated in a clean-up effort at the Richmond Recreation Complex on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Volunteers and city staff removed litter and weeds, painted the building walls, installed weed fabric, and spread truckloads of mulch, according to city officials.

The effort was hosted by the Richmond Community Services, Parks & Landscaping Division, Richmond Love Your Block and the Richmond Tool Library.

“We are grateful to our volunteers and staff who made the event a great success,” city officials said. “We would also like to give a special shout out to Ivonne Malave at the Contra Costa Youth Service Bureau for bringing 15 youth to the event!”
