Coming to Richmond as part of the Red Oak Victory ship’s “Fall 2023 Film Series” is Man from Frisco, showing in the ship’s on-board movie theatre Thurs., Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Boarding begins at 6:30 p.m.
Man from Frisco is a 1944 movie partially shot in Richmond that stars Michael O’Shea, Anne Shirley and Gene Lockhart, per the ship’s crew, and there’s even a Hollywood version of Henry Kaiser in it. “This is a rarely seen film…[and] tells the fictionalized story of an engineer in the Kaiser Shipyards. Spies, patriots and romance.” Food and drinks will be on hand for purchase during the evening.
The Red Oak Victory’s Fall 2023 Film Series continues Thursday nights now through Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m., with the theme “The Home Front: During and After World War II.” Films are shown in the ship’s movie theatre. Find out more about the entire film series here.
