The Artist Tree, El Sobrante’s very first licensed, recreational cannabis dispensary, announced it will open its doors on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Described as “an art gallery that just so happens to sell cannabis,” the new store at 4100 San Pablo Dam Road will feature a modern, open-floor design that will contain art displays exhibiting the work of local artists.

The Artist Tree said its venues “go above and beyond just selling cannabis in hopes of serving the city through community events, education, and perhaps most importantly, by fostering creativity.”

The Artist Tree chain includes seven other venues in Southern California, but this will be its first store in Northern California, according to the company. It was granted a retail cannabis permit in unincorporated Contra Costa County out of a pool of over 20 applicants.

“Shopping with us is an immersive experience unlike anything in the world,” says Lauren Fontein, co-founder of The Artist Tree. “Our El Sobrante space will transport visitors into a world of art and cannabis exploration. Visitors can enjoy numerous works of arts from talented local artists amidst artfully displayed cannabis products and interactive educational hubs.”

The El Sobrante store will offer more than 600 items, including vape cartridges, topicals, edibles, CBD wellness products, craft strains, premium concentrates and pre-rolls.

Delivery service will launch shortly after the grand opening. And while Oct. 7 will be The Artist Tree’s official opening day, a grand opening party for the community will be planned later in the month.

The Artist Tree retail and art space will open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Customers can place online orders for pick up and delivery at TheArtistTree.com.
