Amtrak San Joaquins will provide special discounted service to the rededication of Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park in California’s Central Valley on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The rededication event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature historical re-enactments, storytelling, square dancing, food vendors, crafts, and more. Amtrak San Joaquins will provide a special stop at the park for multiple trains, bookable at a 50 percent discount rate.

Established in 1908 by Allensworth, it was the first town in California to be founded, financed, and governed by African Americans and at one point boasted a total of 300 residents. Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park became a historical landmark in 1974.

The rededication is among four major events hosted annually at the historic park. Train tickets to Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park can be booked online at amtraksanjoaquins.com
