Soul singer/crooner L.J. Bryant will perform live on Thursdays and Fridays at Mississippi Catfish in El Sobrante over the next several months, according to restaurant’s owner Thomas Wright.

The eatery is located at the Champion’s Sports Bar and Grill at 4203 Valley View Road. Performances will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on both days.

“We are pleased to announce that L.J. will bring his ‘L.J. Bryant Experience’ live to our stage,” said Wright, adding that Bryant “puts on an incredible live performance singing songs by Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Whitney Houston and Frankie Beverely and other gold record R/B artists.”

The performance series is part of Mississippi Catfish’s plans “to have a vibrant entertainment scene here in West County, where people can come and be entertained and feel safe,” Wright said.

Bryant is described as an entertainer, singer, songwriter, pianist and band director born and raised in the southside of Chicago. He grew up showcasing his talents in local churches, then competed at state high school competitions, downtown at Millennium Park and once on WGN News Chicago. He later trained in piano under Motown legend Henry Delton.

Bryant currently is band director and lead vocalist of a band Untrained Melodies.
