A trio of popular Richmond businesses are coming together for “Richmond’s Railroad Roundup” April 29-30 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Backyard in Richmond.
That weekend The Backyard will welcome Black Star Pirate BBQ and The Factory Bar onto its lower Cutting Blvd. digs by the train tracks for a sweet ride to include great food, drinks and music in the Rich.
Black Star Pirate BBQ will make its eagerly anticipated return to the Richmond scene that weekend with a pop-up that will see Chef Tony Carracci and Miss Susie Vasco serving up their BBQ favorites such as ribs, brisket, chicken and some sides. The Backyard will treat patrons to a “smaller, tighter” specialty menu (to be posted on Instagram) of multiple burgers, a Philly cheese steak and two different salads, per co-owner Emmet Kauffman, who co-runs the business with his wife, Dominique.
The Factory Bar will round off the weekend offerings with two or three specialty drinks from bars set up by The Backyard’s entrance.
Kauffman said he Dominique are “Excited to be doing a joint event” and hopes to keep collaborating with Black Star, The Factory and other local businesses on a monthly or ongoing basis. He said they want The Backyard to be a “pirate island” for Black Star and to “keep things going” with The Factory. He also gave a tip of the hat to possible future partner Masa, which he said has “cool drinks.”
Richmond’s Railroad Roundup will also see the return of live music at The Backyard. On Saturday, the Taxidermy Birds will perform from 12-3 p.m. while the High Card Drifters will play from 4-8 p.m. Sunday will celebrate the venue’s popular “Reggae Sunday” with DJ Selecta Rebel playing vinyl reggae tunes (Time TBD).
