Brush up on your Lindy Hop as the Red Oak Victory (ROV) welcomes the community aboard for its Spring Swing Dance Sat., April 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. with live 30s-40s swing music by Evelyn and Her Vintage Ties.

Tickets to the fundraising event are $25—$10 for children age 12 and under—and include admission and dancing, with proceeds from ticket sales benefitting “the maintenance and restoration of the ship,” according to the ROV. The Factory Bar will be onboard selling beer, wine and cocktails for the 21-and-over set, and snacks and soft drinks will be also be up for sale.

Tours of the historic ship—which is not only the last remaining vessel built at Richmond Kaiser Shipyards during World War II, but also one of the last wartime Victory ships—will also be available.

“So put on your dancing shoes or just come to listen and enjoy the music,” stated the ROV. “Either way you’ll experience an unforgettable evening in truly historic surroundings.” To give a hint of what’s to come, the ship’s crew provided this video from its 2017 Spring Swing.
