A new baseball team in San Pablo is unique in that it is girls-only, a first for the city, according to Andre Williams Sr., president of the San Pablo Baseball Association.

Players ages 8 to 12 are being sought for U12 and U10 teams. Players play for free. The effort is sponsored by the Mike Norris Baseball Academy and the West Contra Costa Salesian Boys & Girls Club.

The team will play a Fall Ball schedule with Tara Hills, South San Francisco, Oakland Pittsburgh.

The team’s manager is Jesus Contreras, a former player from the San Pablo Baseball Association.

Families interested in joining the team should contact San Pablo Baseball Association President Andre L. Williams Sr. at (510) 978-6876 or (510) 860-5286.
