A 19-year-old driver was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center with major injuries following a high-speed collision in the area of Richmond Parkway and West Barrett Avenue Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Officers responded to the crash scene at 4:24 p.m. after a Toyota sedan broadsided a Nissan pickup truck, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle said.Â
Two people were injured, one with minor injuries as well as the driver of the Toyota, who suffered major injuries. Richmond firefighters and paramedics provided patient care while a California Highway Patrol helicopter arrived to take the Toyota driver to the hospital for treatment by a trauma team, according to Richmond Firefighters Local 188 and CHP.
“The Richmond Police Department will be investigating this collision,” according to firefighters, which characterized the incident as a “high speed traffic accident.”
