As the Richmond Recreation Complex welcomes community members of all ages back to enjoy its programs in-person, the Community Services Department is seeking volunteers Sat., July 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help clean up, weed and mulch the complex entrance for visitors.

The cleaning and beautification effort is a collaboration between the department and the City’s Parks & Landscaping Division, Richmond Love Your Block and the Richmond Tool Library.

“We have more visitors at our main building, the Richmond Recreation Complex,” said Community Services Department officials on Facebook, who added that the facility is “utilized by children and families participating in our summer camps, afterschool programs, sports and fitness programs and more.”

Organizers will provide volunteers with pre-packaged lunches, gloves, tools, sanitizer, etc.; restrooms will also be available. “Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty as well as closed-toe shoes,” requested event organizers.

Parking is available on Harry Ells Pl., Macdonald Ave. and in the parking lot behind the Recreation Complex off of Macdonald Ave. (next to Nicholl Park), per organizers.
