The City of Pinole is modifying its annual tree lighting event into a drive-through event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Saturday, Dec. 5, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the city’s Recreation Department will host a “holiday zone” in the public safety parking lot at 880 Tennant Ave., according to the city.
Community members can drive through and waive to Santa and Mrs. Claus. Recreation staff will distribute cookie decorating kits to all participants. The kits are sponsored by Mechanics Bank, and the holiday tree is sponsored by Sequoia Real Estate.
Parking or exiting your vehicle will not be allowed.
The festivities don’t end there. On Thursday, Dec. 17, from 5-7 p.m. on 880 Tennant, the Pinole Police Department will host its first ever Candy Cane Lane Driv-Thru event. Families can again drive through in their vehicles, waive at Santa and his helpers and pick up a sweet treat at the end.
