Richmond: Free household hazardous waste, mattress drop-off event

Richmond is hosting a free one-day household hazardous waste and mattress drop-off event on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the parking lot of the Galileo Club.

The event will run 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lot at 371 S. 23rd St.

Residents of Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, and unincorporated West Contra Costa County (except Kensington) can take advantage of the event and must bring proof of residency. They can properly dispose of paints, aerosols, electronic waste (e-waste), batteries, and oil for free. Mattresses will also be accepted.

  1. I have attempted to drop off mattresses at these events in the past. If you’re not there and in line by 8am you’re out of luck. Not once have I ever been accepted, each time I’ve always been told they have reached the limit!
