Three 17-year-olds have been arrested in connection with a suspected retaliation shooting at the Crescent Park Apartments in Richmond on Wednesday, Sept. 2, that claimed the life of 22-year-old Jaloni Blasher, police said Thursday.
One of the suspects was arrested the day after the shooting at a residence in Richmond, and was subsequently charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office with murder with gang enhancements, according to Richmond police Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy.
The other two suspects were arrested at their respective homes in San Pablo and Richmond on Wednesday in connection with the investigation, Pomeroy said. The DA is reviewing those cases to decide whether to file formal charges.
All suspect names are being withheld as they are minors.
Blasher was killed after more than one shooter opened fire on a group congregating in the 4800 block of Hartnett Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 2.
The shooting was believed to have been carried out in retaliation for a separate fatal shooting the previous day. On Tuesday, Sept. 1, Erick Galeana, 22, of San Pablo, was killed, and a 20-year-old Richmond resident injured, in a mid-afternoon shooting in the area of 17th Street and Roosevelt Avenue in the Belding Woods neighborhood.
