It costs, on average, $4,000 per month just to keep the SS Red Oak Victory, a restored World War II Victory ship that serves as a museum, tied to the pier on Richmond’s shoreline.
With the ship closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and unable to generate revenue from visitors, there’s no revenue source to cover the ongoing costs to maintain the ship, museum officials said.
A fundraiser called Fund the Ship for a Day has been launched to keep the museum afloat. Click below for more information on possible donation levels.
- Fund the Ship for a Half-Day: $125
- Fund the Ship for a Day: $250
- Fund the Ship for a Week: $1000
- Fund the Ship for Any Amount
“Our all-volunteer crew, many of whom are pictured above, cannot wait to get back to the ship and start greeting visitors again,” museum officials said.
