A 16-year-old student was arrested on suspicion of threatening to stab and attempt to kill multiple students and staff members at De Anza High School, police said.
On Sunday night, an off-duty Richmond police school resource officer received information about the threat being posted on social media.
He “investigated this incident thoroughly” and identified the student responsible, leading to an arrest for making criminal threats, police said.
“This is an example of how the community, school staff and the police worked together to stop a potential violent act,” police said. “We at RPD are committed to ensuring our schools are safe and will take every threat seriously. This is a reminder that all incidents of potential violence towards schools need to be reported in a timely fashion.”
