A 50-year-old Oakley man was fatally shot in Richmond’s Iron Triangle neighborhood on Friday, July 5.
Richmond police responded to a Shotspotter gun detection activation in the area of 6th Street and Ohio Avenue at 1:53 a.m., police spokesperson Lt. Matt Stonebraker said.
Arriving officers found Brian Bedard, 50, suffering from a single gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel provided lifesaving measures and quickly transported him to a local hospital, but Bedard succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
No further details, including suspect descriptions or a motive, has been released as the homicide remains under investigation.
