Whether you are a parent wanting to obtain a birth certificate, headed out of the country on vacation, or getting married, you’ll be pleased to hear that the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder Office will be open for three extra hours on Thursdays during the summer.
The Clerk-Recorder Extended Summer Hours program runs from Thursday, July 11, through August 29th, during which time the Clerk-Recorder’s office at 555 Escobar St. in Martinez will be open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
“Services provided during the extended hours include the issuance of marriage licenses, copies of vital records such as birth and death certificates, copies of recorded documents, fictitious business name and other professional filings,” according to the county. “Marriage ceremonies will be available by appointment and walk-ins will be accommodated, if possible.”
Since 2015, the program has served over 1,000 customers after hours, the county says.
“Residents, especially those who work during the day, have enjoyed the opportunity to get the services they need at a time that’s more convenient for them,” Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder Joe Canciamilla said. “It’s nice to be able to offer our services for an extended time, especially for busy parents as they get ready for the upcoming school year.”
