Students at Verde Elementary in North Richmond unveiled two new completed art projects on the campus during a fun and free Verde Family Fair on Saturday.

The unveiling of the mosaic and mural art projects on the campus at at 2000 Giaramita St. was accompanied by speeches from local leaders, including Robert Rogers, district coordinator for Supervisor John Gioia, mosaic artist Daud Abdullah and Verde Principal Eric Acosta-Verprauskus.

Now, mosaic artwork is beautifying a bridge coming into campus and the mural, located on the side of the school’s front office building, is highlighting the rich history of North Richmond.

The projects were made possibly by a Public Art Mini Grant by the City of Richmond’s Arts and Culture Commission. The requirement to receive the grant was that staff engage students from preschool to 7th grade in the projects.
