El Cerrito police investigate fatal shooting on Galvin Drive

El Cerrito police are asking residents and businesses along Stockton Avenue to check their security cameras in the wake of a homicide in the city.

At 4:32 p.m. Sunday, police responded to multiple shots fired in the 900 block of Galvin Drive in El Cerrito, where a victim was found in the street. The victim was later transported to a hospital by helicopter, where he later died from his injuries.

Witnesses said the victim, identified as 18-year-old Sincere Martin of Oakland, was targeted by a man in his 20s who fled in a white vehicle, driving rapidly westbound on Stockton Avenue from Galvin Drive.

Residents in the area who believe they saw the suspect or suspect’s vehicle are encouraged to contact the El Cerrito Police Department at (510) 237-3233.

The ECPD is asking all residents and businesses on Stockton Avenue with security cameras to review their footage around the time of the incident for video of the suspect and his vehicle. Contact the ECPD with footage of the suspect in this case.
