A Mexican food truck might soon operate in the parking lot of an auto repair shop next to Rumrill Sports Park in San Pablo.
On Tuesday, the San Pablo Planning Commission will review a proposal for the food truck and associated outdoor seating, which would locate in the parking lot of Arcienega’s Auto Repair Shop at the northwest corner of Rumrill Boulevard and Chelsey Avenue. The exact address is 1503 Rumrill Blvd.
Applicant Jairo Vicente proposes to use three of the eight parking spaces to station his food truck, one picnic table, one garbage container, and two planter boxes with low water maintenance flowers. The auto repair shop has given the food truck business the green light to use its restroom facility.
The mobile vending truck, along with the picnic table and planters, will be stored away overnight.

The food truck offers food options like tacos, tortas, burritos and quesadillas. The menu also includes other Mexican hot dishes like fajitas, carne asada and quesabirrias.
Food preparation and food storage would be conducted at La Palmera Commissary in San Pablo.
There has been a food truck in this location before. Juan Carrillo operated Tacos El Primo there from December 2009 to 2014, according to city documents.
San Pablo city staff recommends approval of the food truck proposal, noting the business would provide a “new food option in the area that will be attractive to neighboring business owners, residents and the community as a whole, including visitors to the adjacent Rumrill Sports Park.”
