Pinole police increased their presence in and around the Pinole Middle School campus today in the wake of a campus fight on Wednesday and following an unverified rumor that a former student had planned to come to the campus with a gun.
The rumor stated the former PMS student was associated with the participants in the fight. After interviewing the student and parent at their home in Richmond, police determined “there was no credence to the threat,” police said.
Still, police said they increased their presence in and around the school to ensure students and staff are safe.
“The safety of our community is our highest priority and we will fully investigate all threats to safety,” police said.
