The San Pablo Police Department has arrested a 22-year-old Albany man in connection with the fatal shooting of Robel Tadesse on July 9, 2019, police said.
Last week — on Friday, Jan. 17, 22-year-old Jeffery Van Vo was arrested at a residence in the 2600 block of Greenwood Drive in unincorporated San Pablo in connection with the killing, police said.
With help from information from the public, San Pablo police detectives located Vo “hiding” at the residence, police said. He was taken into custody, transported to the County Jail and booked on suspicion of murder.
The homicide occurred in the 900 block of Stanton Avenue. San Pablo police responded to the area at about 9:23 p.m. after a Shotspotter gun detection activation alerted them to numerous, rapid-fire gunshots in the area. Officers arrived and found Tadesse wounded in a vehicle in the roadway. Officers attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, but Tadesse succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.
San Pablo police detectives developed information leading to Vo identified as a suspect. Further information about the investigation, including motive, was not immediately released.
“The San Pablo Police Department wants to thank our community partners who stepped up and assisted with this investigation which ultimately led to Vo’s capture,” police said.
