El Cerrito police reported today that they identified the juvenile suspect responsible for a bomb threat posted to social media on May 1 that led to the evacuation of El Cerrito High.
The threat led to a search of the campus at 540 Ashbury Ave. No bomb was found.
“The suspect is not an El Cerrito High School student,” police said. “The suspect has taken responsibility and investigators are working closely with the family. We have also been in constant communication with the high school administration throughout the course of this investigation. The suspect does not pose a threat to the students, staff, or community.”
Further details about the suspect, including his identity, were not being released because of the age of the minor, police said.
