The Hercules Police Department is reporting a rise in reckless e-bike and scooter use by underage riders. Recent incidents include speeding on sidewalks and riding dangerously in traffic, with one community member posting about unsafe riding in the park behind Lucky’s.

“These behaviors can lead to preventable injuries,” police stated, emphasizing that riders must use age-appropriate e-bike classes, wear helmets, and follow the rules of the road.

Officials urge parents to ensure children use appropriate models and receive education on traffic laws and pedestrian courtesy. The Hercules Police Department said it will continue monitoring e-bike use and enforcing applicable laws to maintain community safety.
