BART’s beloved holiday sweater is back, but the 2025 edition is described as an “elevated version of the fan favorite.”
In other words, this one isn’t trying to win ugly sweater contests.
“In past years, our sweaters featured traditional or playful ugly sweater designs,” Director of Customer Services Erica Iñiguez-Diaz said in a BART report. “This year, we’ve gone with more of a ski-style sweater—a sophisticated look that BART fans can proudly wear not just to holiday parties, but to work throughout the season.”
The 2025 edition, available for preorder now through Aug. 7 at Railgoods.com, combines cozy comfort with a refined ski-lodge aesthetic. Available in adult sizes S–4XL and youth sizes S–XL, the sweaters come in blue, red, and green; however, only the blue adult version will be available after the presale.
Since their debut in 2021, BART’s holiday sweaters have consistently sold out quickly. This year marks the debut of youth-sized “BARTy” sweaters. Matching beanies are also available to complete the festive look. All items are produced by local business Oaklandish and are expected to ship in early November.
To celebrate, BART will host SweaterFest on Saturday, Dec. 13, featuring family-friendly activities and a group photo of sweater-clad attendees.
