The City of Pinole will hold a grand reopening of the Pinole Valley Park East Soccer Field on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. till noon.
The once unusable field at the end of Wright Avenue was rehabilitated courtesy of a donation from the West Contra Costa Youth Soccer League (WCCYSL).
“Come and celebrate this exciting upgrade with a day of soccer activities, delicious food, and family-friendly fun,” city officials said, adding, “Bring the whole family for a celebration you won’t want to miss.”
Previous to the rehabilitation, hazards rendered the field unplayable. The city met with WCCYSL, which donated funds for the project. The project included updates to the field and irrigation system at a cost estimated at around $167,000, according to our report last fall.
According to the city, WCCYSL will be a priority user for reservations at the field for a period of 10 years.
